Robert T. Threlkeld

Robert T. Threlkeld was born Oct. 24, 1947, to Alvin and Edith Threlkeld, and died Jan. 3, 2013, in Shawnee, OK. He began his teaching career on a Navajo Reservation in Shiprock, NM. After a few years, he and his family moved to Moore, OK, where he spent 25 years as a teacher, coach and athletic director of Highland West Junior High School. When Robert wasn’t teaching, he enjoyed reading, floating in his pool, and was known as an all-around handyman who could fix anything. He is survived by his wife, Thurza; his mother, Edith; two daughters, Jennifer Smith of Guthrie, OK; and Robin Holly and James of Stillwater, OK; their mother, Kathy Threlkeld of Guthrie, OK; grandson, Conner Holly; two stepsons; Stephen Baker and granddaughter Breanna; and Adam Baker and Nancy; brother, Michael and Kim, of Cortez, CO; sister, Marla Lehman and John, of Estancia, NM; and his faithful four-legged companion, Maggie. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Alvin. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the Faith Crossing Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Published in The Daily Oklahoman, Jan. 6, 2013.
