Bonnie MacWillie Brandolino (1947-2006) – On January 22, 2006, at 10:37 PST Bonnie Brandolino, my wife, confirmed her victory over the cancer that ravaged her physical body, departing this life at our home shared with the people and animals she loved. To those who know her, there is no surprise in her confident departure, caring about others even as she was seriously ill herself. Bonnie was an Army brat, strong, self-confident and could handle tough times. She also lived with the verve of a child of the Peace-Love-Joy sixties. She found her niche in the dynamic area of Convention Sales. She put group heads in beds for Hilton, Westin and Holiday Inns; catering for a resort and sold meetings in cities for the Convention Bureaus of Tucson, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Pasadena. For the past ten years she represented the Los Angeles Convention Center. We all respected the significant achievements in her jobs but these were never where Bonnie put her soul. That was devoted to the numerous long lasting friendships she made of co-workers and clients, show managers and center operators. And along the way she carved out the time to mentor numerous younger professionals. Bonnie has been in a struggle against cancer for the past two years. She decided early on to openly share her situation, but she never pleaded and she never gave up. Our typical cancer roller-coaster journey was leavened by her strength and humor in the face of what she knew to have been an inevitable result. Bonnie’s life was filled with caring for her friends, her clients and not least her cats. Her recent trials served to reveal the depth of those feelings as she continued to be concerned about others literally until the end. I am so glad I was able to spend at least 20 years sharing a life and love with Bonnie. I only wish it could have been more. Tribute found at bonnie-brandolino.memory-of.com/About.aspx and created by Bob Rintz (husband).
