Dennis Patrick Obituary
Dennis Allen Patrick, 79, passed away peacefully January 28, 2025. Dennis was born in Seattle, Washington to the late James and Mabel Palmer Patrick. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Patrick and sister, Kerry Burger.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 45 years Elaine Patrick; and sons, Zachary and Justin and his fiancé, Marie.
Dennis graduated from Fairfax High School in 1963 and continued his education at Virginia Wesleyan University. There he discovered his love of soccer which he would play for the next 50 years. While raising a family with his wife he would later pursue a master's degree at night to teach AP United States History.
Dennis spent his career as a teacher and coach for 40 years at Fort Hunt, West Springfield, and Ocean Lakes High Schools. He loved inspiring minds, nurturing dreams, and passing on the importance of history to future generations.
Dennis was a devoted husband to his wife, strong protector and advocate for his sons, and a beloved teacher to his many students over the years. He was an active member at Nimmo United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach and later Tumalo Church in Bend Oregon.
Throughout Dennis's life he was an avid reader, lover of cinema, rocking and dancing away to music, sharing games of crossword and scrabble, traveling the United States, and enjoying the wonders of nature.
Look to him in the sun, the rain, and the stars.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Crematory, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, with Pastor Sarah Locke officiating.
