On Monday October 21, 2013 Leonard E. Smoot, "Lenny" unexpectedly passed away in his Outer Banks, NC beach home. Lenny was born on November 28, 1947 in Arlington VA. He was 65 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Myrtle Smoot. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joyce, daughters Laura (Lee), Stephanie and son Jeff (Josie). He also leaves behind his best friend and twin brother Bruce (Danielle), Bill (Sheila), Mike (Tanya); Sisters Cindy McBride (Don) and Joyce Creel (Donnie); Grandchildren Anna, Zachary and Keegan. Lenny also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Lenny served 25 years with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department as a Technician and 10+ years as an assistant to the Fire Marshall. Lenny was a devoted and loving father, a die-hard REDSKIN and NASCAR fan and thoroughly enjoyed working outdoors in his yard.
