Loren was a great guy.  He and I were in the Colonial Corps, setting up and then cleaning up after sporting events (football, basketball & baseball.)  We had a good team of guys involved.  He was a real contributor.  I was looking forward to catching up with him at the upcoming reunion and am sad that he has passed.  If there are any other Colonial Corps members coming to the event, please find me.

Loren was a favored friend. I can remember Visnick relentless pusuit of Carol & I holding hands or hugging, Loren swooped but in just prior a Visnick arrival hugged me, turned to Visnick & said what? just sayin HI, Visnick was too caught off guard walked away mumbling. About died laughing. I got lost into the world soon after graduating. Rip Loren.

I feel the need to tell a story about Loren.  He seemed always smiling and happy.  He was an only child and his mother was always on him for anything and everything from the clothes he wore to where he was going and when he was coming back. If you look up "Helicopter Mom" in the dictionary it will say Mrs VanSickle. Loren and I would cruise the streets on weekends in my 1971 Corvette that I promised I would get when I got out of the Marine Corps. When Bill Butler got out of the Army, his wife Laura threw him a welcome home party at their apartment in Seven Corners.  Loren and I went to it and kinda got a bit plastered and when we left we were driving west on Braddock Rd and I was going too fast with bald tires and lost control at the curve in front of TJ.  Spun my Corvette and overcorrected it until I was going backwards into a brand new green telephone pole at the corner of Randolph Dr.  Loren was not wearing his seat belt and his head got cut on the metal seat belt clasp which was above his door. The telephone pole broke at the base and since I only had liability insurance the only thing that was paid for was the telephone pole and labor to replace it.

RIP my good friend,

Miss ya bunches
