Dorothy D. “D2” Melter, 66, died on Thursday, August 13, 2015 in a local hospital following an extended illness. Dorothy was born to Carl and Margaret (Barney) Melter on July 25, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a longtime member of the West Main Baptist Church in Alice, Texas. She and her mother we the co-founders of the Alice Little Miss Kickball, she was member of the Order of the Eastern Star # 61 in Alice, Texas, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Alice VFW. Dorothy retired from the Covance Research Products after 28 years of Service.  Survivors: Brother: C. J. (Kay) Melter Jr. of Robstown, Texas, two longtime friends: Norma Escobar of Ben Bolt, Texas, Renee McMonagle of Agua Dulce, Texas, three nephews and two nieces.  Visitation will begin on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015 at 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the West Main Baptist Church in Alice, Texas with a Funeral beginning at 10 a.m. with Dr. David Kimberly officiating. Burial will follow in the Alice Cemetery
The family would like to thank the Meridian Care and staff for the love and care provided to Dorothy, and a special thank you to a dear friend, Leona Owen.  Services entrusted to Roberson Funeral Home of Alice, Texas.

Dee Dee was always up beat.  My sympathy to her family and friends.  Not easy to loose friends.
