Marcie Loraine Schiro
January 15, 1952 - May 29, 2016

Marcie Loraine Weatherford Schiro, age 64, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 29, 2016 in Kingsville, Texas. She was diagnosed in 2006 with a rare form of dementia known as FTD/Pick’s Disease and was cared for at home until passing by her nurse and now friend Joyce Burse. Marcie will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Marcie was born on January 15, 1952, to her parents Vernon “Slim” and Mary Weatherford in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Two weeks after her birth, the family relocated to Alice, Texas, where she spent the next eighteen years of her life. Marcie attended school in Alice and graduated at the top of her class from William Adams High School in 1970. It was in high school that she met the love of her life, Henry R. Schiro. The couple married on August 4, 1970.

The two settled in Orange Grove, Texas, in 1971 and later had two children; Antony Lee, followed by his little sister, Cara Marie. Marcie enjoyed baking and spent a great deal of time perfecting her recipes, winning numerous blue ribbons at Jim Wells County Fairs. Marcie soon began working as a secretary for First Baptist Church in Alice, first as secretary for Pastor Joe E. Love, then eventually Church Secretary. Years later, the family moved to Chicago, Illinois but soon moved back home to South Texas where Henry and Marcie have lived the last twenty-seven years in Kingsville.

Marcie worked as a realtor for Century 21 for nearly fifteen years. Her love for animals grew throughout her lifetime and eventually blossomed into an idea of formulating Kingsville’s first animal rescue. Marcie was very proud to be a founder of ARK, Animal Rescue Kleberg, a rescue shelter for abandoned, abused, and stray animals. She dedicated countless hours to caring for, fostering, and raising money to support their cause. It was one of her proudest achievements.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Marcie is survived by her loving husband of almost 46 years, Henry R. Schiro of Kingsville, Texas; son Antony Schiro, wife Wendi, and grandson, Gavin; daughter Cara M. Schiro and granddaughter Amara Schiro.
