Deborah Ann Dohoney (May 7, 1948 - November 10, 2014)


Deborah Ann Dohoney passed away on Monday night, November 10, 2014, after a brief illness. She was born to Ernest and Henrietta Schneider on May 7, 1948. A devoted teacher for more than three decades, she taught at Dubose Middle School from 1970–1993. From 1993 until her retirement in 2004, she taught government and economics at Alice High School. After retirement, she worked as a volunteer with the Alice Food Pantry and Brush Country Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). She worshiped for many years at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and in the last few years became a founding member of the Living Word Fellowship. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the T.A.R.T.S.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Henrietta Schneider; brothers, John Henry, Alfred, and Arnold Schneider; and brother-in-law Austin Ellis.

Deborah is survived by her husband, Frank Dohoney; son, Ryan Dohoney; son-in-law, Bryan Markovitz; sister, Barbara Ellis; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Holmgreen Mortuary at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Deborah’s name to the Alice Food Pantry, Coastal Bend CASA, or the Living Word Fellowship.

Services are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas.
