Dorette Seipp (Smith) - Class Of 1971

Dorette Anna Smith By Staff Alice Echo-News Journal

Dorette Anna Smith, 60, of Alice passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. She was born in Alice, Texas on January 26, 1954 to Gerald Nelson and Linda Dodd Seipp.

Dorette’s light shined on the city of Alice for 60 years. Her inspiration was love of the church, family, husband, and “grandbabies”. She found the greatest love of her life, in her husband Shawn, a caring wonderful person that allowed Dorette’s life to grow. She gave her heart and dedication to her church, as the Lord would have, and now rejoices with her in His presence. She poured love and time into her passions of Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, and Daughters of the Nile. She loved yellow roses and she enjoyed watching her favorite movie, “Gone with the Wind”. She was employed with Alice Chevrolet for over 35 years. Dorette filled her spare time with joyous interactions on the home tending to her animals, (Pepe the donkey, Lacey & Nikki the dogs, Socks the cat, and many other critters on the ranch). Dorette had one amazing force in recent years, and that was her grandchildren. There was not a conversation that she held without mentioning
them. To see Dorette, was to know her. She never met a stranger. Dorette was a loving caring person who opened her heart to all. We will miss you on Sunday, as we know you will be playing a grand piano in heaven. Shortly followed by hoots and hollars for the Dallas Cowboys, and never missing a Spurs Game! (As long as the games didn’t interfere with hunting or fishing trip). She did them all at once on many occasions! “Nana” you will be missed. God called you home, and home is where you are now.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Sonny Seipp.

She is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Shawn Smith, daughter, Crissy Seabolt, granddaughter, Nancy Harrell, son, James Seabolt, daughter-in-law, Suzanne Seabolt, granddaughter, Sadie Seabolt, grandson, James W. Seabolt, daughter, Stephanie Hobbs, Son-in-law, Dee Hobbs, grandson, Austin Hall, granddaughter, Hunter Hobbs, sister, Leslie Einhaus, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Holmgreen Mortuary. Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Alice. Burial will follow in Alice Cemetery.
