Jesse Neal Richardson of Alice, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019, after bravely battling cancer for three years, at the age of 70.

He was born on December 25, 1948 in Hondo, Texas to Izette and J.W. Richardson.  He moved to Alice, Texas with his family in 1954 and became a lifetime resident.

He was a devoted son, brother, father, husband and Peepaw.  He enjoyed golfing, hunting, sports, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandson.  He grew up in Alice, Texas, where he played football and was later inducted into the Alice High School Football Hall of Fame.  He went on to play football at Texas Tech University where he was named to the All-Southwest Conference team and 1970 Offensive Player of the year and later inducted into the Texas Tech University Hall of Fame.  It was at Texas Tech University where he met the love of his life, Debbie, whom he married on April 1, 1972.   He enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served as 2nd  Lieutenant for 10 years.  After graduation,  he returned to his home town of Alice to join his father and brother in the family business, Richardson Water Well Drilling Company, where he worked alongside his family until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his father J.W. “Bub” Richardson.

Jesse is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie Richardson; his children, Lacey (Bryan) Williams of San Antonio, Texas, Jordan Richardson of Richardson, Texas,  Phillip Pride of Tuscan, Arizona; his grandson, Connor Williams; his mother Izetta “Zeke” Richardson of Alice, Texas; and his brother Farris (Debbie) Richardson of Alice, Texas.  He also leaves behind countless family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice, Texas.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2019 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Mike Dobbs officiating.
