Alonzo Lopez
(1931 - 2017)
Alonzo Lopez entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his residence in Cedar Park, Texas. He was born on January 6, 1931 to Nicolas Lopez and Rita Saldana Lopez in Star County, Texas. His solid faith in God and the love of family and friends carried him through 86 years of life. Alonzo proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and then earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Texas A&I University. Throughout his lifetime, he was a Biology and Mathematics Teacher as well as a Football Coach. He educated students at Benavides High School, Alice High School, Miller High School of Corpus Christi, Texas and lastly at Falfurrias High School over a span of 35 years. He then became the High School Principal for the Brooks County ISD for over 19 years until his retirement in 1990. As he entered Heaven, he was reunited with his parents; infant twin siblings, Ruben and Rebecca Lopez, three sisters, Beatrice Perez, Olivia L. Munoz and Amparo L. Maldonado and two brothers, Alberto Lopez (my papa), and Roberto S. Lopez. He leaves behind to cherish his memories and continue his legacy his wife, Elma V. Lopez of Cedar Park; three sons, Alonzo (Susan) Lopez, II of Austin, Texas, David A. (Beth) Lopez of Dallas, Texas and Michael A. (Darla) Lopez of Spring, Texas; two daughters, Annela Lopez of Austin and Alissa M. (Javier) Sanchez of Falfurrias; one sister, Raquel L. Vasquez of Falfurrias; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Alonzo’s grandsons, Michael Brandon Lopez, Christopher Lopez, Mark Lopez, Joseph Lopez, Javier Sanchez, Jr. and Jaime Alonzo Sanchez. Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 8:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias with services concluding at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
