Dane Royer was born on October 5, 1968 and left this world on November 18, 1995. Dane was having trouble breathing one Friday, was taken to ER and diagnosed with pneumonia. By Saturday he was on life support, Dane passed on Sunday. His families questions were answered after his autopsy, he had an unknown heart defect. DANE ALLEN ROYER, 27, a student, died suddenly and unexpectedly Nov. 18, 1995, in Colorado Springs. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. today at Memorial Gardens Chapel, 3825 Airport Road. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at the chapel, with the Rev. Jason McSpadden officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave. Pikes Peak Funeral and Cremation Service, 3825 Airport Road, is handling arrangements. Mr. Royer was born Oct. 5, 1968, in Danville, Ky., to David Joseph and Lee Ann (Wilson) Royer II, who now live in California. He was married June 6, 1992, in Allegan, Mich., to Tressie Meunier, who survives. He also is survived by a son, Gregory (born November 20, 1991); a brother, Kjell now living in California; and two sisters, Gayla Jean of Colorado and Kirsten of California. Mr. Royer served in the Navy with the Sea Cadets. Dane's public service included countless organizations such as Junior Achievement, Vice President of the Pikes Peak JayCees, Boy's Club Board of Directors, a member of the Pikes Peak Range Riders and a life member of the Association of the United States Navy. He co-chaired the 1994 Junior Olympics at the Air Force Academy. He was an active member of his church. He had been a Colorado Springs resident since 1991 and will receive a posthumous degree in history from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, where he was a member of Phi Alpha Theta. Dane was in his last year of his graduate degree program where he maintained a very high gpa and was on the deans list every year.
