I was a neighbor of John's also. I remember scouting around the neighborhood with him and other children when we were yound. He was always considerate and kind to all of us, even through High School. I didn't hear of his death until many years later and was shocked to learn of it. I had a very interesting dream about him recently. Ask me about it in March.
I lived across the street from John on Calaveras St. in the '50s. I used to play with him and his younger brother along with all the other kids in the neighborhood. He was always a happy, fun kid. I got reconnected with him again at PHS, and we both went to UCSB. He would come visit me, and we'd have some great discussions. I was so sad to hear of his passing from my parents who had stayed in touch with his parents.
