I didn't know Jana in high school, but she offered me a place to stay with her for the 62nd AltonSr60 reunion. After much changing of plans, it finally became obvious that I wasn't supposed to go, and I missed it. I gave Jana my banquet ticket and she brought a friend. We became long distance friends from then on, often conversing by text, phone and email.

Jana was a generous, loving person that probably never met a stranger. She talked lovingly of Alton, her family and friends there, her high school days, and had a wonderful time at the reunion. I am sorry that we never met in person. We both wanted that. Several weeks ago, I talked to her about a problem I had, and she was so helpful with wise advice.

Just recently she emailed that she was in the hospital recovering from a leg amputation and that she hoped she would be able to go home and sit with a view of the lake this summer. I don't know if she made it, but I'm sure she is in heaven looking down on that lake now. She will be missed.
