Stanley 'Butch' Roberts

Stanley "Butch" Roberts, 69, died at 4:40 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton.

He was born Oct. 16, 1940, in Alton to John and Charlotte (Ward) Roberts.

He worked for 38 years in the maintenance department for Laclede Steel. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1965. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Godfrey, where he was a leader in men's prayer group and known as the prayer warrior. He loved classic cars, traveling and camping.

On Aug. 31, 1968, in Alton, he married Dianne Nasello.

Besides his wife, survivors are one son, Steven M. Roberts of Godfrey, and his girlfriend, Theresa Mask, of St. Louis; three brothers, John Roberts (Juanita) of Wood River, Wes Roberts (Linda) of Cottage Hills and Davey Roberts (Beverly) of Godfrey; three sisters, Fern Grills of Alton, Maxine Cherry (Don) of Jerseyville and Amy Reinhardt (John) of Troy, Mo.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry Nasello of Albuquerque, N.M., Barbara Nasello of Alton, Mike Nasello (Janeen) of Elderado Hill, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews and many many friends. Two special children that he loved dearly, Alyson and Grant Haegele of Alton, also survive

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Allen "Sid" Roberts; and one sister, Betty Owens.

Visitation and funeral services were at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Alton.
