Ethel Lue Wallace (Wallace)

Ethel Lue (Wallace) Wallace transitioned very peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 2:46 p.m., at her home with family members by her side.  She was blessed with 72 years.

Ethel (Wallace)Wallace was born July 12, 1941 in Alton to the late Oscar and Julia (Keene) Wallace. She attended and graduated from Alton Public Schools and later obtained a degree in nursing from F.W. Olin’s School of Nursing.

On November 13, 1958, Ethel married Winston Wallace; they were married 42 years. Mrs. Wallace was employed and retired from Alton Mental Health Center. Pleasures consisted of: bowling, planting flowers in her yard, cutting her grass on her tractor, and family gatherings at her home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tia Wallace.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: a daughter, Sheralyn (Roy)Elliott of Alton; a son, Sean(April)Wallace of Wood River; 4 granddaughters, Wendi(Roosevelt)Robinson, Shereece(Ben)Heckert, and Brandy Wallace all of Alton, and Kaylee Stamper of wood river; 2 grandsons, Roy(Joannah)Elliott of Bolingbrook, IL and Brendan Portwood of Wood River; 2 great granddaughters, Dajla Robinson and Anya Robinson and a great grandson, Roosevelt Robinson IV all of Alton; 4 sisters, Earlene Jackson, Bonny(Donnie)DeBruce, Betty Singleton, and Judy (Leshon)Young of San Marcus, Texas; 3 brothers, Oscar(Francis)Wallace of Godfrey, Ronald(Rosa)Wallace of East Alton, and Rodney(Wanda)Wallace of Stow, Ohio; a special brother-in-law, Darwin(Mary)Wallace; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ethel’s love for nursing inspired her to donate her body to Washington University School of Medicine, and per her wishes no services will be held.

It is so sad to see the loss of one of our classmates. She was a beautiful person with a heart of gold and a great personality.

I extend my condolences to the Wallace families.
