Wanda Lee Daily Gnerich, 55, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at her home after a six year battle with primary pulmonary hypertension. Born April 21,1942, in Alton, she was a daughter of the late Burtis M. Daily and Bernadine Daily who resides in Godfrey.

After moving to Alaska in 1974, she worked for the Alaska state troopers, Department of Transportation and Labor. She was a member of the Governors Council of Handicapped, and enjoyed singing with Sweet Adelines. She was awarded, with her quartet, the Arctic Jubilee, and the 1990 Novice Quartet Award.

Her family said, "She was a beautiful and loving person, who dealt with life with dignity, and most of all humor. She made everyone's life a little more special just knowing her."

Surviving are; her husband, Otto Gnerich of Anchorage; two daughters, Lynn Ann Dewitt of Anchorage and Margaret Lea Pimental of Pheonix, Ala.; a son, Marc Edward Gnerich of Anchorage; and three grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Marie McCrea of Godfrey, Anne Rider of Ridgway; and a brother, Lawrence Edward Daily of Ridgway.

Prayer services were July 12, 1997 followed by funeral services at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Anchorage. A memorial Mass was held July19, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ridgway. Father Don Abell presided. Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway was in charge of local arrangements.
