I'm sorry to hear that Ken Damron has died. He was a neighbor of mine, living on Clawson St, in the house that was next door to Cogswell's Store. He was an athlete, but he also belonged to the drama club. I believe he was in Stalag 17.

A really good person who had a smile for all. A terrific leader and world-wise man. He had a lot of friends. I have a picture, which I WILL find, of Ken with Richard Brecht (both from North Jr.) - both now deceased. They are truly missed.

I last saw Ken August 2008 in Seattle when I took him and his wife, Melanie, from the airport to a ship for their cruise to Alaska.

We had reconnected in the Fall of 2004 when I spent a weekend with them at thir home in suburban Ft. Worth, and we became good friends as adults.

When he did not answer Emails and cell phone messages in early 2009, I suspected that something happened and called his house. That's when I learned the sad news from Melanie.

So, good bye good friend. You overcame a lot in your life.

Tom,

Thank you so much for your entry. It's great to know that you were able to reconnect with Ken. It sounds as if he had a good life before he died. I'm pleased to know it.

Marilyn
