PERCY –

Robert Thomas Ebbler, 55, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at Memorial Hospital of Chester. Born June 1, 1942, at Alton, he was a son of Willia Mae (Sheets) Ebbler of Houston, Texas, and the late William Henry Ebbler.

He owned Ebbler Inc. and the Percy Hardware Store and was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church in Alton. He married the former Sue Johnston June 8, 1963. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa and Kevin Shields of Gorham, Susan Alstat of Murphysboro and Kathy Ebbler of Percy; a son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Rhonda Ebbler of Percy; four grandchildren, Ashley, Kelly and Rebecca Shields, all of Gorham, and Benjamin Alstat of Murphysboro; and a brother, James Ebbler of Jerseyville.

The body was cremated. There was no visitation. Graveside funeral services with interment were at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. The Rev. Steve Duncan officiated.  Grain Funeral Home Pleasant Grove Chapel, Old Route 13 east of Murphysboro, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Memorial Hospital of Chester or the American Cancer Society.
