HAROLD D. RATHGEB, JR.

            Harold D. Rathgeb Jr., 42, former Alton resident, of Fullerton, CA, died at 12:25 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 1984, at St. Jude’s Hospital in Brea, CA, after a six month illness.

            He worked 15 years at Laclede Steel in the purchasing department at St. Louis and the last 18 months at Aero Jet Electro Systems in California.

            Born in Alton, he is survived by his father and stepmother, Harold and Ora Nell Rathgeb Sr., of Alton; his mother, Dorothy Brady Albizo of Des Moines, Iowa; paternal grandfather, Mike E. Rathgeb of Alton; maternal grandmother, Gladys Love of Hettick; one brother, Ronald of Jonesboro, GA; three half brothers, Timothy and Daryl, both of Alton and Richard of Godfrey; two half sisters, Amy Klein of Godfrey and Sharon Barlow of Des Moines, Iowa.

            Visitation and funeral services were at Smith Funeral Home in Alton with the Rev. John Grisham officiating. Burial was in Upper Alton Cemetery.

            Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Upper Alton Baptist Church.
