Mary "Jane" Mihalich obituary, 1942-2023, New Berlin, IL

Mary "Jane" Mihalich
New Berlin - Mary "Jane" (nee Stice) Mihalich, 80, passed to eternal life on February 1, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Alton, IL, to Floyd and Rowena Stice on April 23, 1942. She married James Mihalich in Alton, IL, on April 21, 1962; he survives. Jane was one of eleven children. She was preceded in death by Robert (Norma) Stice, Dorothy (Charley) Moore, Richard (Judy) Stice, Jack (Ginger) Stice, Ruby (Edwin) Schaberg, Margaret (Pete) Schwegel, Wayne Stice, Freddie Joe Stice, Freida (Edmund) Eyster, and an infant sister.
Jane is survived by her husband James "Jim" Mihalich; sons, Ronald (Amy) Mihalich of New Berlin, and Gregory (Jamie Burnett) Mihalich of Springfield; grandchildren, Colin Mihalich of Milwaukee, WI, Ashley Mihalich of Springfield, Clayton Mihalich of Springfield and Nicholas Mihalich of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Grace.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and her family meant everything to her. Jane enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband in their motor home. She would occasionally go to a casino to try her luck while always professing that she had "fun". Christmas was always very important to her and she would plan well in advance of December 25 to care for her kids.
Jane and her husband belonged to area car clubs where they would display their custom car, occasionally taking the old car on a cruise. She loved to cook and "keep her house". Jane worked at the Secretary of State's licensing office in Springfield and Edwardsville in the 70s.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
