Elizabeth A. (Kidwell) Thies, 70, of Alton, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 8:02 am at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 12, 1950 in Alton, IL, the daughter of William and Hilda (Mawhee) Kidwell. On March 26, 1983 Elizabeth married William “Michael” Thies in Alton.

She enjoyed decorating and redecorating houses, gardening, sewing and counted cross stich. Watching movies, especially Harry Potter was a favorite pastime. She also loved nothing more than traveling, National Parks were her favorite.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, William “Michael” of Alton; children, Andrea Stahlhut (Brian) of Godfrey and Robert Mason (Carin) of Loveland, CO; five grandchildren, Elijah Stahlhut, Kaitlin Johnson, Kaci Johnson, Dylan Johnson and Dartanion Johnson; a brother, Edward Kidwell (Dori) of Union City, TN; a sister, Carol Korte (Ronald) of Alton; and a brother-in-law, Phillip Oberts of Bastrop, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and James Kidwell; and a sister, Pamela Oberts.

A Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 2:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 5:00 pm at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
