GRANITE CITY — Brenda S. Martinez, 64, passed away at 4:50 pm Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

She was born October 17, 1951 in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Marshall and Ruth (Carey) McDuffy. She married Joseph “Joe” Martinez on July 3, 1988 in Bethalto. He survives.

Brenda was a beautician at Alton Mental Health Center in Alton for over 21 years. She was a volunteer for Special Olympics, a Sunday School teacher at Northside Assembly of God Church and a Missionettes leader. She loved spending time with her family. Everyone called her Mama and she made people feel like family. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandbabies.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Heather (Carl) Davis, Ryan (Tammie) Smith, Danielle (Michael) Robinette, Diane Toro and Melissa (Dan) Saul; twelve grandchildren, Keaton, Cole, Avy Day, Jenna, Jessa, Gage, Salvador III, Gabriella, Salena, Nathan, Maria and Matthew; one great granddaughter, Amiya; a sister, Marsha (Roger) Frankford; a brother, Bruce (Pam) McDuffy; a nephew, Cody and a niece, Kelly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Antonio Martinez and a sister, Janice Booten.

Visitation will be from 11 am until service at 1 pm Friday, November 27, 2015 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Myles Holmes officiating.

Burial will follow at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation.
