Dateline: Alton

Carol Sue Hailer, 73, died at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017 at her home. Born June 12, 1944 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Leonard and Eileen (Weigler) Schildroth. Mrs. Hailer retired from Temple Cleaners as a manager in 2010 after 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. On June 17, 1961 she married George S. Hailer in Alton. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2012. Surviving is a daughter, Julie Swallow (Keith) of Rolla, MO, a son, George “Steve” Hailer of Alton, five grandchildren, Jeremy Bourland and his fiancé Haley of Cape Girardeau, MO, Jaimee Henderson (Travis) of Excelsior Springs, MO, Jordan Bourland of Rolla, MO, Amber Hailer of Alton, and Ian Hailer (Netta) of Alton. Also surviving are five great grandchildren, Jenna and Paige Henderson, Mason Bourland, Lynnox Hailer, and Lydia Bourland, four brothers, Ron Schildroth (Jeannette) of Louisiana, Charlie Schildroth (Nadine) of Godfrey, Lennie Schildroth (Mary) of Michigan, and Michael Schildroth (Lisa) of St. Louis, one sister, Sharon Schildroth of Kentucky, a sister-in-law, Janet Schildroth of Georgia and special lifelong friends, Richard and Linda Torrez of Alton. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard “Dick” Schildroth and John Schildroth. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Father John Luong, OMV will officiate.
