STANLEY DAVIS SR.

 

ALTON — Stanley Eugene Davis Sr. was born on May 22, 1957, in Alton, Ill., son of the late Charlotte (Davis) Spears and Horace B. Whitside. He was raised by his stepfather Alvin Holloway.

 

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, Stanley E. Davis Sr., affectionately known by his family and friends as "ManMan", was called home to be with the Lord, with his wife and family by his side. In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Hamilton, three brothers-in law, Robert E. Hickman, Johnnie Jordan and Eulie Wigfall Jr., a sister-in-law, Josie M. Jackson, and stepfather, Fredrick Spears.

 

On August 8, 1999, he was united in holy matrimony to Cynthia E. Wigfall, and to this union a son was born.

 

Stanley received his education through the Alton Public School District; he was employed at Shell Oil Refinery as well as the Village Inn. He possessed a protective nature and great leadership ability; loved being around family and friends, leisurely enjoyed playing dominoes and attending family gatherings.

 

He leaves to cherish precious memories to his wife, Cynthia (Wigfall) Davis of Godfrey; three sons, Ronald Gipson and Rodney Gipson, Alton, Stanley E. Davis Jr., Godfrey; three sisters, Vickie Hickman and Florence Davis of Alton, and Marva Jordan of Merrillville, Ind.; two brothers, Mark (Zena) Holloway, Peoria, and Clarence McDonald, Alton; a sister-in-law Doris Bonds (Jerome), Creve Coeur Mo.; his mother-in-law, Minnie L. Wigfall, Alton; a brother-in-law, David Wigfall (Lynda), Roxana; a stepfather Alvin Holloway, Merrillville, Ind.; five stepchildren, Courtney Wigfall, Kansas City, Mo., Branden Wigfall, Godfrey, Andre Wigfall, Kansas, City, DeNeal Wigfall and Candice Robinson, Godfrey; grandchildren, Tamija Gipson, Le'nora Wigfall, Demonte Wigfall, Branden Wigfall Jr., Maliki Carstens, Courtney Wigfall Jr. and Arie Wigfall, a great-grandchild, Quintin Brooks Jr., bonus children, Reginald Gipson, Regina Gipson and Robert Gipson; special uncle, Marvin Steward; special friends, Rico Patterson and Ronald Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Visitation will be from 10 until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Oakwood Church of God in Christ.

 

Cremation rites will be accorded.
