Johann "John" Paulus Fergurson, 54 of Caldwell, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 9, 2012 doing what he loved most-living life to the fullest. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening, September 14th at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15th at Caldwell LDS Stake Center, Kimball Building with a visitation in the Relief Society room from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
John was born November 8, 1957, the third of four boys, at Fort Riley, Kansas to Charlie and Regina Fergurson. He moved with his family at a young age to Greenfield, then to Alton, Illinois. John was so thankful to be in Alton because he was closer to his first love, the St Louis Cardinals. Skipping school and sneaking under the fence to catch a Cardinals game was a common occurrence. It was in his middle school years that John discovered another life passion-ice hockey.
He graduated from Alton High in 1975 then attended Rick's College on a football scholarship. It was there that he met his soul mate and one true love, Terri Wynn. They were married March 28, 1981 and made their home in Caldwell, Idaho. Together they lovingly raised four children, Alyssa, Ian, Rockie and Tia.
John's outgoing and friendly personality led him to excel in the oil industry as a highly respected sales representative. He worked for CB Oil, Pennzoil, A & I Oil and Valvoline. His love of sports kept him involved with coaching and refereeing throughout the valley. As a coach for his children's teams, John was a strong role model for all of the kids that participated with his positive encouragement and enthusiasm. He was genuinely kind and caring with a laugh that was contagious. John found only the good in others.
John learned at a young age to be caring and nurturing because of the loving dedication that his single mother gave to her four boys. His love and commitment to his wife and children was reflected in everything John did. He was a member of the Caldwell LDS 4th Ward and served in numerous callings over the years.
John is survived by his loving wife, Terri who will miss him with all of her heart as will their children, Alyssa & Albert Conklin, Ian Fergurson, Rockie & Ali Fergurson, and Tia Fergurson all of Caldwell; three grandchildren, Carter and Hemslee Conklin, and Khloe Fergurson; three brothers, Mike & Linda Fergurson, Andy & Heather Fergurson and Dave & RaShelle Fergurson; numerous nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
Heartfelt thanks to John's "racquetball brothers" who stayed by his side during his last moments. We are forever grateful…
Terri discovered this last message from John on Sunday-
I am watching over you from the stars,
Don't be scared, I know exactly where you are,
Cause there's a piece of me and it's burning in your heart
Even death could never tear us apart…
