

Paul David Scharth, age 58, of Alton, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at home.He was born September 21, 1957, in Alton, the son of G. Paul and Linda (Buchanan) Scharth. He worked for twenty-seven years at Laclede Steel and worked in logistics as a truck driver for many years.Paul lived his entire life in Alton. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #254. His true passion was photography. Paul loved to travel, especially to tropical locales. He loved all animals, and enjoyed especially going to the zoo.He is survived by his father, G. Paul Scharth of Alton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Belinda S. Lewis and Sandra and Darold Jackson; a brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Terrie Scharth; his beloved adopted granddaughters, Morgan Rogers and Raleighn Petry; seven nieces and nephews, Sandy Kaye Scharth, Neta Sackett, Julie Tabor, Robert Jackson, Jeremy Jackson, Ellen Scharth, and Alana Scharth; and many other relatives and friends.He is preceded in death by his mother, Linda; his grandfather, John Buchanan; and an infant niece Mary Kate Scharth.Friends may gather to celebrate his life on Friday, November 6, 2015, from 4:30 until the time of service at 6:30 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.Per his wishes, his remains were donated to Washington University Medical School.Contributions may be made to BJC Hospice or to St. Louis Zoo Foundation.Condolences and on-line guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com.
