
Mona Lee (Fornbacher) Streilein
Feb. 12, 1952 – June 14, 2022
Mona Lee (Fornbacher) Streilein, 70, of Duncansville, passed away Tuesday at home after a courageous fight with cancer. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Edward and Reeda (Stehley) Fornbacher.
She married Kenneth J. Streilein on May 9, 1987.
Surviving are her husband of 35 years; two daughters, Kandie Berman and Heather Brooks; two grandchildren, Briana Petroccione and Jett Lathrop; a brother, Gregory Fornbacher; a special aunt, “Puddle” Cleeda Brennan; a sister-in-law, Cathy Fornbacher; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including special cousin, Bob Kutz.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ardale Shannon and Mary Netreba; and two brothers, Edward C. and Ernest.
Mona attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1971. She then attended travel school in Monroeville.
She started working at a young age and was employed by many restaurants over the course of her life, including Luigetta’s, where she met Ken. She was also employed at Fiore Toyota, where she worked as a greeter.
Mona was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
She loved to cook and bake and was known for her Easter “Bunny” cakes. Mona was a loving and caring woman who will be greatly missed.
Mona and Ken would like to thank all of the caregivers provided by Family Hospice for their care, comfort and compassion during Mona’s illness.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a memorial service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. with Deacon James Woomer officiating.
Committal at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Altoona.
