Ronald ‘Dean’ Johnson

Ronald “Dean” Johnson, 71, died Friday afternoon at Celebration Villa of Altoona. He was born in Akron, Ohio.

Surviving are his mother, Barbara Jeanette (Walker) Johnson of Altoona; a son, Matthew R. Johnson of Los Angeles; a daughter, Erin M. Kelly (Mike) of Claysburg; two granddaughters, Emma and Jillian; a sister,

Deborah L. Decker (Doug) of Altoona; two nephews, Robert G. Decker (Christopher) of Los Angeles and Ryan D. Decker of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Dean Johnson.

Dean was of the Protestant faith tradition.

He was a 1971 graduate of Altoona Area High School, where he was a standout gymnast.

Dean retired as a union pipefitter in 2003 after more than 25 years’ service.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
