Daniel S. Monroe Jr., 61, Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, died early on the morning of Aug. 30, 2014.

He was born in Cresson, son of the late Daniel S. Sr. and Izabelle (McMasters) Monroe. Surviving are three children: Kelly Smith and Jared, both of Altoona, and Eric of Imler; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three siblings: Clayton, Carol and Jean. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. There will be no viewing or funeral service. Interment will be at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Arrangements are by Gilden Barton Funeral Home, 1401 Ninth Ave., Altoona.
