John B. Richardson, 68, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, a son of the late John A. and M. Virginia (Rockey) Richardson. John married Betty L. Heiss on June 7, 1975.

Surviving are his wife, Betty; son, Adam J. Richardson (Vanessa Wion) of East Freedom; a grandchild, Savanna Knab; and a brother, Thomas G. (Karen) Richardson of Newport.

John was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alana Richardson; his sisters: Margaret “Peggy” Healy and Carole Reed; and a brother, Robert Richardson.

He was a 1971 graduate of Altoona Area High School. John was employed by Freedom Excursions until his passing and retired from F.L. Smithe Machine Co. and Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center.

John was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a member and past president of the UnterUns, a member of the Almraush Schuhplattlers, a lifetime member of the Bavarian Aid Society and a member and past officer of the Brush Mountain Sportsman’s Club. John belonged to various Jaffa Shrine units and was a member of the Cesare Battisti Club.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1405 Fifth Ave., Altoona, PA 16602, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., with Father Lubomir Strecok. COVID-19 protocols will be followed. Committal will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
