Frank E. Shore, 59, Altoona, died unexpectedly of heart failure Monday at UPMC Mercy, Pittsburgh.

He was the son of Emory C. and Ellen L. (Kreuz) Shore. He married Marita J. Adams on May 1, 1976, at Sacred Heart Church in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife; two sons: Douglas F. of Richmond, Va., and Adam P. of Indiana, Pa.; a daughter, Krystal L. of San Francisco, Calif.; a brother, Dennis C. and wife, Linda, of Altoona; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Frank was a 1971 graduate of Altoona Area High School. In January 2012, he retired from Conrail and Norfolk Southern as a lead man and machinist after 38 years of service. He enjoyed volunteering as a youth basketball coach for many years. Well known for his love of cars, ingenuity, sense of humor and willingness to help others, he will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, in Stevens Memorial Chapel by Father John Gibbons. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
