Gregg Paul Swanger, 56, Duncansville, died Wednesday evening at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of Genevieve (Mackey) Swanger and the late Paul W. Swanger, who died May 10, 1995.
Surviving are his mother of Altoona; a daughter, Angie in Florida; a brother, Gary and wife, Beverly, of Saxton; a sister, Sue Weyandt of Altoona; an aunt, Helen Smith of Belleville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Carl Weyandt.
Gregg was employed for the past 33 years by Watco-Millenium Railway as a welder and material procurement person. He was actively serving in the U.S. Air Force Reserve with the 911 Airlift Wing and also had served in the U.S. Navy. He did three tours of duty: Afghanistan, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
Gregg was a member of the Duncansville VFW. He enjoyed watching all sports and loved his two dogs, calling them nurse Megan and nurse Bear, who sat with him and kept him company during his illness.
