July 18, 1953 - July 7, 2020
Albert L. “Albie” Wales, 66, Altoona, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020, following an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Joseph R. and Paula M. (Mangia) Wales.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marcie (Harpster); son, William Wales of Altoona; two daughters: Erika Eiland of Jacksonville, Fla., and Colbe Norris of Altoona; brother, Joseph L. Wales of Altoona; sister, Sandra Zlupko (George) of Altoona; four grandchildren: TreyVon, Darrian, Brielle and Vionna; sisters-in-law: Pamela Wales of Altoona and Jodie Macariola of Lancaster; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Albie was a 1971 graduate of Altoona Area High School and graduated from Taft University, California. He retired as a car salesman from Dean Patterson after many years of service and had previously been the owner and operator of the Windjammer Bar.
Albie was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed sports, especially football, where he had a long career that included playing at Altoona Area High School, Taft University and semi-pro football with the Central Pennsylvania Whitetail Bucks and the Chambersburg Cardinals.
Albie enjoyed playing the lottery when he was “feeling lucky,” eating good food and gathering with his family and many close friends. He was a jovial, happy, “people-person” and will be sadly missed, but always remembered!
For the past eight months, Albert was a resident of the Altoona Center for Nursing Care. The family is greatly appreciative of all the wonderful care he received.
At this time, arrangements are private due to the health threat of COVID-19. The family will plan a celebration of life for Albie in the future when gathering together will be safer. Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in memory of Albie be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.

Dene J. Branda
To my dear friend and brother Albi, thank you for some of the best years of my youth, we had the greatest of times together along with Duke, living our lives without a care in the world never letting anyone get in our way. We could find humor in just about anything and laugh at each other's imperfections without being offended because we cared for one another and it didn't matter to us because we were brothers. I never will forget you, my friend. Your mom, and dad, and Joey and Sandra were my extended family and I love you all. I know we will be together again with all our loved ones, God put us in each other's lives for a reason and God does not make mistakes. Every now and then take a look from up there and see that Duke and I are ok and always remember to have our back's like you always have.
