Mary Joanne Urquiza, 56, Altoona, died Monday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after a brief illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Lorraine L. (Gibboney) Wyland and the late Rodger B. Wyland.
Surviving are her mother; a daughter, Amber J. Garland (Lewis) of Altoona; two grandchildren: Zachery and Aaron, both of Altoona; three sisters: Elda L. Marshall (Ronald) of Halifax, Va., and Janet M. Miller (Robert) and Regina A. Schultz, both of Altoona; a brother, Herbert R. Wyland (Loretta) of Hollidaysburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was a 1971 graduate of Altoona Area High School. She retired from Yamaha Electronics after 20 years of service.
She enjoyed writing and reading poetry and loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved traveling and being with her pets.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery (www.thegoodfuneralhomeinc.com), followed by a funeral service at 3:30 p.m. by Elder Jim Quirin. Interment at Blair Memorial Park.
