John T. Chathams, 65, Flinton, passed away Monday evening at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Frank and Nannie (Bollinger) Chathams. On Sept. 16, 1972, he married Susan M. Royer, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 18, 2017.
Surviving are two sons: Robert (Kathy) Chathams and John (Dawn) Chathams Jr.; a grandson, Forrest, who was raised in the home; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Sandy (Jim) McDermott.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank.
He graduated from Altoona Area High School. He worked as a mechanic at Conrail.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, target practice and photography.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona.
