Steven Wayne Hayes

Steven Wayne Hayes, 70, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. He was born on July 1, 1954 in Amarillo to David V. and Mary Y. (Shield) Hayes. 

Steven graduated from Tascosa High School in 1972 and went on to attend Amarillo College. He was an entrepreneur most of his life, mostly in the restaurant, food products and distribution business. Steven’s hobbies included gardening, fishing and playing golf. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 28, 2012. Steven worked to help others have the hope that he had. The hope of living forever on a Paradise Earth, like Jehovah promised from the beginning of his early creation. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Viza Noel Hayes and Edgar and Liza Shield; parents, David V. and Mary Y. Hayes; two brothers, David V. Hayes and Dean E. Hayes and a nephew, Michael Hayes. 

Steven is survived by three sisters, D’Ann Hayes Laws, Mary Lynne Hayes and Dana Lee Hayes; sister-in-law, Libby Hayes; 7 nieces and nephews, Trey, Jay, Missy, Aaron, Stevie Christine, John and Katie and 10 great nieces and nephews.
