After a courageous battle with cancer, Sybil Dawson Dickinson died peacefully in her sleep early Sunday morning, December 6th. She was 59 years old.
Sybil was born in Amarillo, Texas, on November 2, 1956 to Allen and Ellen Dawson. She attended Tascosa High School and graduated from William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri, in 1979.
Upon graduation, Sybil worked for Anheuser-Busch in California and Colorado. After moving to Atlanta, she met and married Alan Dickinson, eventually moving to Monroe, Georgia, to raise their son, Berkley Reid Dickinson.
Sybil’s heart was always filled with love. Her infectious giggle and radiating smile lit up any room she entered, and if you were lucky enough to cross her path, there is no way your day would not turn instantly better. She never met a stranger and made friends across the world; she was truly the friendliest person you would ever meet.
Sybil was known for two things. First, her endless love of all animals, but especially all of her dogs. She often took them on long walks with her dogs pulling her the entire way! Of course, she would be laughing and smiling the whole way.
Her greatest love was Marley Quinn Dickinson, her granddaughter born June 23, 2015. Though they only shared months together, she was the highlight of Sybil’s life. Even in the last days of her battle with cancer, the moment Marley came into the room, Sybil’s eyes would light up and their love filled the room.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Ellen Dawson, and her husband Alan Dickinson.
Survivors include her son, Berkley Reid Dickinson, and a granddaughter Marley Quinn Dickinson, of Amarillo; step-daughter Kari and her husband Matt Samuelson of Atlanta, and their 3 children; brothers Allen Dawson III of Amarillo, Berkley and wife Bonnie Dawson of San Antonio, and Vincent and wife Cindy Dawson of San Antonio; 6 nieces and nephews; and 4 great-nieces and nephews. And her many, many friends. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/155814290/sybil_dickinson
