Phillip Wayne Marquis, 49, of Amarillo died Saturday, June 24, 2006.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Polk Street United Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. Cletus Beights officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mr. Marquis was born Nov. 13, 1956, in Abilene and lived in Amarillo most of his life. He was a 1975 graduate of Tascosa High School where he excelled in track and played the violin in the orchestra. He also sang with the Tascosa High School Freedom Singers. He attended Amarillo College.
He married Jim Ann Ziegler in 1983 in Amarillo. He was a graphic arts technician and worked for Affiliated Foods in their print shop before going to work for Dixon Paper Co., which became Xpedx. He moved with the company to Littleton, Colo., in 1998 and returned to Amarillo in 2002.
He was a drummer for many years playing with the Amatones. He loved the outdoors, snow skiing and music. He grew up in Polk Street United Methodist Church and was a member of Littleton United Methodist Church in Littleton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Marquis; and by an infant sister, Dorothy Marquis.
Survivors include his wife, Jim Ann Marquis of Littleton; a son, Landon Marquis of Littleton; his mother, Ruby Marquis of Amarillo; a sister, Kay Berg and husband Ken of Flower Mound; two sisters-in-law, Katrina Gordon of Hurst and Jae Jalbert of Phoenix; two nieces; and two nephews.
