Darrell Hadfield - Class Of 1965

Darrell Hadfield

The following was taken from the Power County Press - September 2009

Darrell Wayne Hadfield of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully after a four-month battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. He was born Aug. 1, 1947, in Logan, UT, to Darrell C. (Bud) and Colleen Poulsen Hadfield.
When Darrell was eight, his family moved from Preston, ID, to American Falls, where he graduated from AFHS in 1965. He then served in the military services in Germany for three years. Darrell graduated from Idaho State University with a BS in math and from University of New Mexico with his Masters Degree and Ph.D. He worked as a U.S. Defense Department contracted computer programmer for Northrop Grumman in Albuquerque and Washington, D.C. for his entire career.
He is survived by the love of his life, Edrie Bays of Bedford, VA; mother, Colleen, of Rexburg, ID; brother, Lon, of Juneau, AK, and Bullhead City, AZ; sister, Rawna (Sunny) Lohse, of Idaho Falls and Island Park, ID; and children: Lance of Albuquerque, Erin (Chris) Lammert of Seattle, WA; Brandon Fox of Japan. His grandchildren are Nyah, Misha, Myah, Dylan, and Shelby Jade. His father, Bud, and brother Lance Glen preceded him in death.
Darrell enjoyed his family and friends. He took numerous fishing trips to Alaska and loved fly-fishing on the Snake River. His favorite mode of transportation was one of his motorcycles, on which he traveled all over the United States, many rides with his good friend and riding partner Joe Baird of Albuquerque. Anyone who knew Darrell, especially political conservatives, knew he was a vocal Democrat and an active member of the National Democratic Party. He listened to Liberal Talk Radio and was always ready to argue his points. An admitted tech geek and Trekkie, most often seen wearing his Bluetooth, he acquired the latest technological gadgets; if he wasn't typing on his computer, he was fiddling with some puzzle, game or toy. Early in life, he was an artist. He was an avid photographer and decorated his home with prints he had made. He loved feeding, watching, and photographing the birds outside his beloved Tijeras, NM, home.
Celebrations of his life -- being planned in Albuquerque and in Island Park, by his family -- are to be announced at a later date. He will be so greatly missed by all. "Beam me up, Scottie."
