Walla Walla resident John Max Huber, 67, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at his home.
John was born Dec. 5, 1945, in American Falls, ID, to Gottlieb Max and Emma Neu Huber. He attended school in American Falls, graduating from high school in 1964. He joined the U.S. Air Force on Aug. 10, 1968, and was discharged Aug. 6, 1972. He and his wife, Linda (Owsley), were together for 20 years, marrying in 2005.
John worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 30 years as a civil engineer, working on projects including area bridges, dams and fish facilities. He enjoyed sharing his love of engineering with his grandsons. John was active in Walla Walla Valley Bands playing bass clarinet since its inception in 1989. He also enjoyed participating in the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. After retiring from the Corps, he enjoyed traveling with his wife to various parts of the country.
John is survived by his wife, Linda, at their home; his step-son, Jeff Watson and his wife, Karen; grandsons, Henry and Bob; sister, Nancy Glarborg and her husband, Jim, of Aberdeen, ID; brother Bill Huber and his wife, Dianne, of American Falls and several nephews and one niece.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Valley Bands or Walla Walla Community Hospice through the funeral home.
