the first and only time I got drunk in HS was with Norm in his Dads big black Pontiac. we went to the A and W and got those little milk carton containers of coke and added Cherry Vodka to it. it was the night of some dance when we were juniors, the reason I got drunk was that Diane broke her date with me to go to the dance with Larry Bell who is now married to my sister. I remember driving out to Norms house once with Hank and maybe Stan and Clark and we hit a skunk. Norm and I used to take swimming lessons together, our moms took turns driving us in from Pleasant Valley. I loved the guy and was always jealous of his great hair....Bob

Norm and I grew up together and we spent many days working and playing out in Pleasant Valley. Norm loved all kinds of sports and he and I hunted all types of game birds together for many years. I can remember when Norm got his first shotgun for Christmas, a beautiful Browning autoloader, and we spent the whole xmas break hunting ducks and froze our butts off.

Norm was a gifted athlete and he had one of the most beautiful jump shots ever. Norm was an exceptional baseball player though he never got the chance to play little league because of farm work.

The Allen family and the Liese's spent many summer breaks together at Island Park resevoir. I learned how to water ski with Norm behind Joe's beautiful blue and white Rayson Craft inboard boat. I have so many great and happy memories of fun times with Norm that it makes me smile at the thought.

One Christmas Norm got new snow skis and he called an invited me to go to Caribou Ski area in Pocatello. I did not have skis so my dad lined up some loaners from Ken Morgan. The skis were about 7 ft. long woodies with no metal edges and bear trap bindings. Not thinking that skiing required any need to turn or stop Norm and I went straight to the top and turned our skis loose. Within the first hundred yards I watched Norm carve around and point up hill in a graceful stop. Meanwhile I had built up a head of steam to around 500 MPH straight down the hill and flew over a large snow bank and ended up in the side of a car in the upper parking lot. Scared me to death, and I can still hear Norm gut laughing at me from up the hill. He hollered "you are one crazy shit are you dead"

The greatest fist fights I ever witnessed were between brothers and Norm and Sid Allen were very entertaining as fighters. I think Conrad and Mark were also very good brother fighters as well. I enjoyed being the referee. They would fight like hell with each other but just let anyone else threaten their brother and they would defend at any cost. Brother's truly love brothers in my experience.

When Norm decided to buy his 442 we discussed colors and interior and transmission etc. he really loved the tan interior and the midnight blue metallic paint he chose. To this day it is one of the most beautiful 442's I have ever seen. Gerry loved it too! So did father Joe so he could have his black Grand Prix back.

Norm was a dedicated father and he loved Gerry and his daughters more than anything. He left us too early and I still think of him often and all the times we had growing up. Norm, Ron and all your many buddies still love you. You and Mark were always the brother's I never had!

Gerry, thanks for posting those photos of Norm in your profile.

I get pretty sentimental when I think about our classmates who are gone, especially Norm, whose passing was such a shock.

We went our separate ways after high school, and would only see each other or talk about once a year. It was always the same, though, it was like we'd just pick up our conversation where we had left off. We always had such a great time.
