Colleen and I became roommates at what used to be Ricks College a year after graduation. She had spent the year after high school going to school in Salt Lake to do data entry. I had gotten my LPN.
Colleen was always fairly quiet while in high school. But she came into her own. Our other roommates called her Coco. She was always running around the apartment getting people to laugh. When I have gotten together with some of our other roommates we always have great memories of Colleen.
The fall of 1981 I had gone to visit my folks in Idaho and decided to call Colleen's mom to get an update. It just happened that Colleen was there visiting her mom, but was leaving that afternoon. As we talked, we found out we both had four children and were both pregnant with a child and were due on December 20th. As it turned out she named her little boy Daniel and I had named my little boy Daniel as well.
It was sometime after 1988 that I got word that Colleen was killed in a car accident. I felt so sorry for her husband but especially her children. They were much too young to be without their mother.
And for those of you that did not get to know the real Colleen, you missed quite a treat!
I remember Colleen's smile. She was a very nice person and it makes me very sad to hear that she is no longer with us. Thank you Becky for your memories... Bonnie (Roper) Anderson
