JoAnn Scholes Smith, age 54, of Lehi, died February 21, 1991 at her home of cancer.

She was born May 24, 1936 in Lehi, Utah to Joseph Frederick and Annie Laurel Aagard Scholes. Married Robert Dean Smith August 11, 1959 in Heidelberg, Germany and sealed the next day in the Swiss LDS Temple. She had been an elementary school teacher and a homemaker. She resided in Germany, Ogden, and Logan, before settling in the Utah Valley. She served in the LDS Church, in the stake and ward Young Women and Relief Society presidencies, as well as in numerous other callings. She served in the P.T.A. and various community service projects. She loved and served her neighbors and many friends.Survived by her husband of Lehi; three sons and two daughters, Greg, Logan; Rick, Marshall, Janalee, and Juliann, all of Lehi; father, J. Fred Scholes, Sandy; two brothers and five sisters, Joseph F. Scholes, Durham, N.C.; Paul A. Scholes, Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Don (Carol) McCormick; and Mrs. Bob (Lynette) Belka, both of Ogden; Mrs. Jim (Ellen) McMillan, Sandy; Mrs. David (Jane) Brinton, Draper; Mrs. Steve (Dorothy) Johnson, Manti.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 25, 1991, at 11 a.m., in the Lehi, Utah North LDS Stake Center 851 North 1200 East. Friends may call at a viewing at the church, Sunday evening from 6-10 p.m. and also Monday from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery under direction of the Wing Mortuary.
