
Jo Ann (Huse) Folkmann, 59, of Ames, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, at the Israel Family Hospice House, Ames, Iowa, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Jo Ann Huse was born on July 27, 1962, in Hawthorne, California. She moved with her family to Ames, Iowa, in 1970, when she was in the 3rd grade and went to Edwards Elementary, Welch Jr. High, and graduated from Ames High School in 1981.
She met the love of her life, David Folkmann, during her senior year. Jo Ann moved back to Torrance, California with her family in 1982, David followed her to California, and the two were married on September 23, 1983, at the Wayfarer’s Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
Jo Ann attended college at El Camino College in Torrance, California, and graduated with an AA degree. She gave birth to a son, Joseph in 1987, and a daughter, Audrey in 1992.
Jo Ann moved back to Ames, in 1997, and raised her family there. She had a small cleaning business that gave her the freedom to be there to raise two wonderful children, attending school and sporting events. She enjoyed being a mother and grandmother, her garden, traveling, the ocean, boating, and going on motorcycle rides with her husband.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Stella Ruth (Butler) Huse.
She is survived by her husband, David Folkmann of Ames; daughter, Audrey Folkmann of Santa Monica, California; son, Joseph (Megan) Folkmann of Vista, Califonia; and grandson, August Folkmann; father, Jerry Huse, of Merritt Island, Florida; a brother, John (Jennifer) Huse of Mentone, California; and a sister, Joyce Abbott of Merritt Island, Florida.
