Cheryl,

I still miss you, even after all these years. You were barely 16 when you passed away of cancer. You fought so hard, even after loosing a leg. I'll never forget that. Rest in peace my friend. Love, Penny

Cheryl, even though we were only passing friends sophomore year in high school, you changed my life with the way you lived and died. Such grace in the face of terminal cancer, such faith in eternity... your life in those last months, and yes, even your funeral, all challenged my lack of belief, my lack of faith. You started the ball rolling in my life, so to speak, and in large part because of you, I'm now sure of my eternal destiny.. and ultimately, my own daughter Lora was sure of hers as well. I cannot thank you enough for being the shining example of character, and of devotion to the Lord, that you were to all of us. Can't wait to see you again one day, and thank you in person!

You died from your cancer just weeks after I came to Sweet Home and I only knew you through the eyes of your neighbors, friends and classmates. I married your next door neighbor and friend, Bill and became close to your best friend, Deb Lightner. How strangely and wonderfully God works - Bill became a minister and I went into Oncology. I'm sure we'll meet again one day. Gail
