I remember hearing my grandparents talking about have their 50 year high school reunion coming up and thinking, oh my gosh, 50 years! That's so old! Can you imaging all those canes and walkers in one room.
My, how perspectives change; heck, I remember thinking that my teachers were old! Now I have a daughter who is a teacher and the teachers at her school are so young!
I think the 50 year reunion is the great equalizer. We're all past pushing to make a name for ourselves or for that matter really caring who's done what as a status  marker of who we are. No, at 68 (the age I will be in 2029), I hope the mood will be more about what you are doing today to enjoy life, how are you giving back (transferring what you have learned) to help future generations who have few mentors, what have you instilled in your children and grandchildren; in short, our legacy.
I suspect that there will be a few canes and walkers heck, in five years, I might even need a little assistance myself because when I look out at the world I am still looking out at it with the eyes of a 25 year old and until my body reminds me to just be a really slow and careful 25 year old because just last week you pulled a back muscle just tying your shoe!
I have only been to two reunions and both of those were very early on. Unless God has other plans for me, I think the 50th is about time to go again. Enjoy yourselves everyone, I will see you in five years and look forward to hearing about the legacy you'll leave behind.
