So fortunate to have known Michael. Because we both participated in sports, I got to know him as a person who would offer a helping hand if needed, a word of encouragement if you were having a bad day, a person of integrity, My sincere condolences to his family. We were part of something very special, having opened Savanna and setting traditions for those who followed. May he be embraced by our loving Father in Heaven as his memory will be realized in how we conduct ourselves daily.

Mike was a hard charger in everything he did throughout his life. Ultimately this full trottle "live life to the fullest" attitude led to him having a serious concussion at a water park while traveling on vacation in Costa Ricaa few years ago. That concussion eventually led to to a rare form of Dementia, Frontal Temporal Dementia. There is no known cure for this very agressive type of Dementia. Near the end of Mike's life the Dementia came with a close relative to this neurological disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), to add to Mike's health problems. The combination of the two were more than this tough guy could overcome.

I stayed in touch with Mike over the years and up to our last conversation about six months ago he was his old self. We had a great conversation that covered what was going on in his world and the world around him. He knew this disease was a death sentence, but he was going to fight it with all he had just like he did as the outstanding Rebel wrestler he was at Savanna High School. Now Rest In Peace and be with God!

I, like many of our Savanna class of "63" and class of "64", send our thoughts and prayers to Leah (Toni Catucci) and their entire family.
