Valerie J. Miller, 56, of Anamosa, entered into eternal life Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Pastor Bob Westfall of New Covenant Bible Church of Cedar Rapids will officiate the services. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa.

Surviving are her husband, Bill; daughter, Dawn (Miller) Ovel and Ryan; son, Daniel and fiancee Jamie Parungao; three grandchildren, Emma, Olivia, and Claire; her parents, Bill and Jolene Jensen; sister, Vickie (Jensen) Bunting of Iowa City; three brothers, Curtiss and Julie Jensen of Cedar Rapids, John and Robyn Jensen of Morley, and Joseph Jensen of Anamosa; and her in-laws, Nelda Miller of Anamosa, Bob and Diane Miller of Maitland, Fla., Linda (Miller) and John Payne of Central City, Tom and Jean Anne Miller of Reno, Nev., René (Miller) and Doug Bunce of Anamosa, and Natalie (Miller) and Jerry Balek of Newton, Iowa.

Valerie Jensen was born Oct. 29, 1956, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of William (Bill) and Jolene Neiland Jensen. Valerie attended St. Patrick’s School and the Anamosa Community Schools. Valerie married Bill Miller on April 16, 1977, in Anamosa. She was a homemaker and later continued her education to become a certified medical assistant. Valerie was employed by Sigma Eye Health.

Valerie had an eye for detail, you could tell by how precisely she decorated her home for all seasons. She loved the challenge of doing crossword puzzles, word searches, and other puzzles. Valerie also loved gardening and shopping with her daughter, Dawn.

Her love and adoration for her family was surpassed by none. Her three granddaughters loved it when Nana came by for a visit or when they could have a sleep over at Papa and Nana’s house. Bill and Valerie dedicated their lives to Jesus Christ early in their marriage and have lived a very blessed life with family and friends.
