Donald D. Starks, 53 years old, of Lamont, Iowa, died on March 15, 2009, at his home following a short illness. He was born on November 26, 1955, in Bellvue, Iowa, the son of William “Bud” and Wilma (Gienapp) Starks. He attended school in Anamosa, Iowa. On August 11, 1978, he and the former Elizabeth Lee Abernathy were married at the Union Church in Quasqueton, Iowa. He was an independent roofing contractor before his health forced him to retire.

Mr. Starks is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, 1 daughter, Jessica Starks of Rock Falls, Illinois, 1 step son, Doug Stephenson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, 4 grandchildren, and 1 sister, Frances (David) Henderson of Quasqueton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Kenneth Starks, and 1 step son, Tracy Stephenson.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the Lutheran Church in Lamont, Iowa, with Pastor Roger McKinstry officiating. Friends may call for visitation after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Casket Bearers will be Nick Oldham, Dan Allsup, Rick Wright, and Jason Drivold.
